Theodora Skipitares
Associate Professor of Art and Design Education

Associate Professor of Art and Design Education Theodora Skipitares, who teaches a course in puppetry, is one of 20 artists featured in the Whitney Museum’s exhibition Rituals of Rented Island. Like all the artists featured in the exhibition, Skipitares was active in New York during the 1970s, a time when the city’s economy foundered but its creative community flourished. Of course, the city has changed dramatically since those days, and local artists have settled in new neighborhoods—including the area around Pratt.  Skipitares says her students recognize “that they’re living in the middle of an art community—an art neighborhood—that’s growing and growing.”
