Carrie Moyer (B.F.A. Painting ’85), Artist
Carrie Moyer (B.F.A. Painting ’85) is an award-winning mid-career painter and writer, currently preparing for her first solo museum exhibition, which will be on view at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts from February 11 through August 19, 2012. Moyer is highly regarded by fellow artists; painter Drew Lowenstein praised her recent work for its “choreographic arrangement of pouring, staining, coaxing, patterning, and sinewy charcoal line” in ArtCritical.com (Oct. 2, 2011).
Over the last 20 years Moyer’s paintings have reflected her political activism, experience as an advertising designer, interest in art history, and passion for abstraction. Moyer has participated in more than 100 group shows and 12 solo exhibitions, and CANADA gallery in New York City has represented her since 2003. She lives and works in Brooklyn.
Moyer is also an accomplished writer and critic who has published reviews and essays on art and taught at major universities including Yale and the Rhode Island School of Design. She recently joined the Department of Art faculty of Hunter College as an associate professor.
