ALUMNI DAY AND ART AND DESIGN FAIR

Come to Alumni Day this fall and reconnect with classmates while taking part in our second annual Alumni Art and Design Fair, gallery exhibitions, an academic fair, campus tours, and an evening cocktail celebration. There will also be special events for Engineering and international alumni as well as those celebrating their 10th, 25th, 35th, 40th, and 50th+ reunions. Digital Arts Festival

Pratt will present a day-long event exploring digital arts on Saturday, September 21 from 10 AM–8 PM on the Brooklyn campus. The event, PHATT B – A Celebration of Digital Arts Brooklyn, will feature panel discussions, workshops, performances, screenings, exhibitions, and keynote presentations. PHATT B is an acronym for Pratt Hosts the Art of Technology Terminal-Brooklyn. Participants include Eva and Franco Mattes, pioneers in the net.art movement; Laura Blereau, director of bitforms gallery; Phoenix Toews, developer of Augmented Mountain; and artists Lance Wakeling, Andrew Norm Wilson, Stephanie Rothenberg, and Elisa Kreisinger. Participating Brooklyn galleries include Interstate Projects, 247365, Momenta Art, Nurture Art, Devotion Gallery, Cartune Xprez, and Transfer Gallery. Coordinated by Pratt Institute’s Department of Digital Arts, this event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by Art F City.

Robert Siegel: Arnold Syrop (B. Arch. ’61) and Joanne Syrop Annual Lecture

Robert SiegelRobert Siegel (B. Arch. ’62), Pratt alumnus and principal and founding partner of Gwathmey Siegel Kaufman and Associates Architects, is giving the Arnold Syrop (B. Arch. ’61) and Joanne Syrop Annual Lecture. Endowed by The Selz Foundation, this annual talk is given by an outstanding individual in architecture. Siegel will discuss his firm’s innovative projects between 1965 and 2010. The talk will be followed by a discussion and reception. This event is free and open to the public.

Museum of Art and Design Show Includes Pratt Jewelers

Samantha Nania, Glissade RingTwo recent graduates from Pratt Institute’s acclaimed studio jewelry program in the undergraduate Fine Arts department will sell their thesis work alongside celebrated jewelry designers from around the world at LOOT: MAD About Jewelry 2013. The annual juried selling exhibition showcases one-of-a-kind, artist-made jewelry and offers the public the rare opportunity to acquire pieces directly from some of the most innovative jewelry artists working today. LOOT: MAD About Jewelry 2013 will feature the creations of 50 emerging and acclaimed jewelry artists, including Pratt alumnae Samantha Nania and Jenna Pierson (both B.F.A. Jewelry ’13). This event is free and open to the public.

Drawing Democracies: a day of drawing across campus

The Drawing Club and the Fine Arts, Foundation, and Art and Design Education departments are planning a full day of drawing-related activities and exhibitions called Drawing Democracies, which will take place on Saturday, October 19 on and around Pratt’s Brooklyn campus. The event aims to engage Pratt students, faculty, staff, and the broader community in Brooklyn. There will be one large collaborative drawing (6 feet by 20 feet) created on the quad with an array of drawing tools and a drop-in drawing session for eight hours with clothed models. In addition, MFA students and performance artists will welcome visitors to see their art and answer questions (performances are off-campus around the Brooklyn Navy Yard). This event is free and open to the public.

LEGENDS GALA 2013: Tickets available now!

Celebrate Pratt at Legends 2013, a scholarship benefit honoring icons of art and design. The annual event honors distinguished individuals and corporations in the world of art and design whose accomplishments and values resonate with those of Pratt. Legends 2013 will honor interior designer David Easton (B.F.A. Interior Design '63); author and journalist Pete Hamill, who studied Illustration and Communications Design at Pratt in the mid-1950s; and Architectural Digest Editor-in-Chief Margaret Russell. Ted Allen, the award-winning host of the prime-time Food Network series Chopped, and author and contributor to numerous other publications and TV shows, will serve as this year's emcee.

The event's mission is to raise funds to provide financial aid to Pratt students based on need and merit. Eighty percent of Pratt's students require financial aid to pursue their educations. Every dollar raised through Legends strengthens the student body by increasing the scholarship endowment and allowing the most qualified students, regardless of their financial backgrounds, an opportunity to attend one of the world's foremost schools of art, design, and architecture.
